Biography

James graduated from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in Sacramento, California, where he graduated fifth in the Evening Division with Great Distinction and Order of the Coif. While at McGeorge, James completed a judicial externship with the Honorable Justice George Nicholson at the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District, in Sacramento. From 2011-2012, James was a staff writer for the Pacific McGeorge Global Business & Development Law Journal, where his comment article was published in 2013.

Prior to joining The Cannon Law Group, James practiced law in Sacramento at a national Am Law 100 firm, where he represented employers in civil litigation and administrative proceedings involving employment law matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and a variety of wage and hour issues. Prior to that, James worked at a boutique law firm in Central California where he represented businesses involving employment law matters, general civil litigation, and where he provided preventive advice and counsel on best practices. James is also experienced in estate planning and business formations.

James is a PADI certified Divemaster, enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, the outdoors, and is always seeking the next adrenaline rush.
